A product can be halal and ultra-processed. Halalan combines halal status and nutrition quality into one honest verdict.

  • Official Nutri-Score (A–E) and NOVA group (1–4), shown unfiltered.
  • Quality score /100 weighing naturalness, controversial additives and organic labels.
  • Factual wording only — compliant with EU Regulation 1924/2006: never "cures" or "heals".
  • Personal alerts: excluded allergens, sugar (diabetes), organic only.
  • Ethics Tag (É) — not to be confused with E-number additives: it flags brands present on public boycott lists, with the source cited, as an optional filter, never mixed with halal status.

Frequently asked questions

Who decides whether a product is halal?

Only our rules engine (ingredients, sourced additives, alcohol), recognised certifications (AVS, ACHAHADA, Grande Mosquée de Paris, HMC…) and manual checks by our moderation team. Never user votes, never an AI.

What does "strict" mode mean?

In strict mode, only products carrying an explicit halal certification are approved, and any doubtful ingredient (unspecified E471, gelatin of unknown origin…) rules the product out. Standard mode accepts widely recognised cross-rules, such as a kosher product without alcohol.

What is the Ethics Tag?

Factual information: when a brand appears on a public boycott list (ecological or humanitarian reasons…), Halalan shows it with the source. It is never an accusation made by Halalan, never a halal verdict — and excluding those products is a personal choice, off by default.

Is Halalan really free?

Yes — unlimited scanning, verdicts, alternatives and local exchange are free and ad-free. Premium features will fund the project, never your data.
